Guys and girls who know about this: is this how a guy might show interest?

There's definitely a chance he likes you. & maybe he's shy too. Or he might think things are going perfectly and there isn't a problem at all, cuz that's how a lot of guys are, right? lol. Look for an opportunity to bring something up about yourself that he doesn't know. See if it interests him at all. But you gotta be able to grab the opportunity. Don't keep letting them p or you'll get nowhere unless he suddenly decides he wants to start talking. good luck. =)
